Incorporating a Charitable Event Into Your Program Can Bring Many Rewards
We recently held an event where we created care packages for the troops. The care packages contained basic items that we take for granted but are critical to the moral of the men and women in the armed forces.
The event was held at the beginning of the conference and allowed attendees to get together and know one another while participating in this great cause.
The room was filled with posters of the troops while taped messages from the troops were played. Local reservists attended the event with their families. It was really heartwarming to see the attendees meet the families and hear about how important the care packages are to them.
Tables were set around the ballroom and each had clear plastic bags and company logo note cards. Attendees went to a central supply station where they filled their bags with toothpaste, deodorant, snacks, candy and other items. Attendees wrote personal notes of thanks and inspiration to include in the care packages.
Our facilitator led special contests where attendees could win extra prizes to include in their care packages. Fun was had by all.
The event chatter even went over to Facebook and twitter and created a buzz for the host company. In the end, the group created over 600 care packages that were sent overseas to bring smiles and brighten the day to our many heroes.
